I headed out to Eagle this afternoon before work to try my luck at the first fish of the year. Was a chilly day about 40 degrees but very windy blowing 16 to 20 mph most of the afternoon. I stopped at the South Channel of the Boise River along Eagle Road and was throwing a simple worm with a size 5 split shot, just enough weight to bounce off the bottom. Standing on the North side of the river casting upstream and letting it float, I hooked into and landed 3 small pan size Rainbow trout. I was only on the water for about an hour or so.
