Just wondering if anyone who has been using the Game Calendar for Deer has any feedback on it. Are the Good and Excellent activity times pretty accurate and the day's overall rating?

Aside from weather patterns do you plan according to it?

I used the calendar last year and it seemed fairly accurate. I don't really plan according to it because I have so few times I actually get to hunt. When I can I do. But the best days I have seem to coincide with the calendar.

I find this calander to be very accurate. I used to go out in the morning, stay in till around 10am then head out get lunch, hang around the local archery shop and then head in for the eve. Since I found this site and this calander it has changed the way I hunt all together. When the excellent activity is in the middle of the day like today's 12:58 to 3:58 I will head in at 10am and so far this has paid of I see more and kill more. Thanks!

I found this site the same way... Googling around for calendar information that my dad used to swear by in his Field and Stream magazines. I recently got back into archery hunting (crossbow this time) and plan to hunt as often as I can using the calendar. I'd be happy to post any relevant patterns I notice. I'm going to use it for the salmon and steelhead season as well. Does it apply to fish? Or is it strictly intended for deer?

I just noticed that the time is wrong on the calender for sunrise & sunset. Anyone else notice this?

The calendar pertains to both game and fish. It is based off of solunar activity which most all animals react to. I use it strictly for fishing. I muskie fish a ton in the fall and the peak activity times have really increased my catch right. I make sure I'm in "The right place during the right times"! Report back during Steelhead and Salmon season, I'm curious of your results.

I use the game calendar all the time and find it to be very effective. The times are usually really accurate for the area in northeastern New York. I suggest that any hunter try using the calendar and see what they think.

Deer hunting tonight: saw eleven deer, all does. Nine of the eleven were spotted during the three hour "excellent period" of 12:45 to 3:45. One was seen during the "good period" of 5:24 to 7:24. The other was spotted somewhere in between. Hope this is helpful. That "excellent period" was spot on. Good luck and stay safe.

I really enjoy this site because it has many people from all over the country sharing their tips and stories, so I am NOT trying to steer anyone in a different direction. I just wanted to share that I happened to come across another site (commerical) that was helpful to me in answering many questions about the solunar calendar charts. Here are our results from opening weekend of muzzleloading in relation to the solunar table.

Saturday my buddy Dave shot a nice 150lb 8 pointer at 8:00am, one hour after the "excellent" time on a day rated as a "one star" day. His Dad and myself did not see a deer.

On Sunday, two deer were seen (no shots) in both cases they were seen outside of the excellent or good window. Another one star day.

Today I was able to hunt the morning. After seeing nothing (during "excellent" period))and dealing with cold winds, had to get out of my tree stand and move around. Put the wind in my face/my left and sun at my back and still hunted my way out. Found a beautiful spot w/ a mix of hardwoods and hemlock with a knoll on my left. Had to sit down, wind was just slowing down. Grunted & bleated during breaks in the wind. At noon a beautiful buck came around the knoll on my left, looking to kick some ass. He was a corker but I could not get a shot.
This was outside either of the good windows. Another one star day....but that was NOT a one star buck.
Looking forward to this weekend which are four star days.
