gosteen - I couldn't agree more. I am staying on my wife's good side by hunting only those periods marked "excellent" and "good." I have seen way more deer in far fewer hours afield, with less bit@#ing from my wife. Those periods marked excellent become like circuses sometimes with most of the activity coming at the front end of the three hour blocks. I make sure I'm out there an hour before the time frame and keep an eye on my watch. I'm really looking forward to this five star weekend with time blocks fitting my schedule. Good luck and stay safe. Edited by user Friday, November 05, 2010 11:18:41 AM(UTC)

Just found this lunar calendar, I had one on my other computer but it crashed and I can't remember what site it was on. So happy I found this one. I like this one better any way. I will let you know how my Deer hunting days will go down here in Tenn. This weekend is opening muzzle loader and the rut just started this week. So excited for saturday!!!!

Hey, Sorry to say not much good to report. Hunted Thursday, Fri & Sat. Rain (steady, sometimes hard ) on Thurs & Fri. Hard to hunt in the rain, but the solunar tables gave me the confidence to stick it out. No luck. My buddy, who is also using solunar tables, went to Maine to hunt for the BIG bucks - will advise as to his luck. On Sat I did see a big boy, but unfortunately it was a big bull not a big buck. Will post a pic when I figure out how. Sill have Sun & Mon...I used two vacation days around the weekend. I will hunt with confidence. Good luck and be safe, Jim happyhaddock attached the following image(s):

I have found this to work alot of times. See deer during time periods given. I did however kill 2 nice 8s this season on 0 star days outside of the windows. Also, I have seen deer right outside the time windows, give or take an hour each way. Monitored weather patterns too, similar weather on "5 star" and "0 star" days seem to have produced the same. I find the most accurate times to use the calendar are on full moon and new moon days.

I find the calendar to be an indicator of when not to go out. I have several game cameras for deer and turkey and recently I compared for an entire month the times of camera shots of deer and turkey, to the so called "activity calendar" and I was surprised to see the results. 73% of the photos were taken during the off peak times that the calendar stated. Only 8% were during the primary hours and 19% were taken during the secondary hours. Perhaps the originators of the calendar were hunters that were trying to keep the good hours of the hunt to themselves? Check the barometer before you go out, if it's falling get after it and if it's steady to increasing.......stay on your barstool.

I bagged a nice 8 point on opening day and the deer were really moving in middle Tn. The lunar calendar really seem to be on mark. Can't wait to see how they are moving this saturday. Rain is coming in on Saturday but the moon sign is not to par. I'll let ya know my luck.
