2011 Mille Lacs Ice conditions and fishing reports

I've heard there is 16" of ice and good plowed roads on Mille Lacs as of 1-1-11. Can anyone else report on ice conditions on Mille lacs or if they have had any luck fishing for Walleyes?

Just got back from Fri\Sat on Mille Lacs. Super windy and cold (-4) on Fri night. Up on flat (27ft) off of Sherman reef?? off big point by casino. One small Walleye around 10pm. Very small tossed it back. Saturday fished same spot till 6PM with no luck at all. Moved to deeper water (34ft) and had action right away. 21.5" Walleye on plain hook and fathead. others in our group had been fishing this spot as well and caught several walleyes. Caught a jumbo perch and a couple tulibee. Finally action, but just ran out of time. Sat night was really cold (-8). Ice was 17-18". Landing was terrible. Lake was smooth, so much so there was no snow to bank the ice shack.

House is 2 miles out on the East side we have 2 feet of good ice (had to put the extention on the auger). Been warm in the shack but wicked cold last couple of weekends. Fish are slow but worthwhile nice perch and a few 25+ eyes. Hoping February is better fishing, the cold snaps seemed to shut down fishing.
