I had previously posted on some trout fishing done through the ice in Chaska, Minnesota which can be read
here.Well, the extravaganza is this weekend (Saturday the 12th). I wont be able to make it this year, but if you are looking to get out on the ice and catch some trout, I would suggest to try it out. Here is a bit more info:
The lake is located in downtown Chaska. Right behind the city courthouse off HWY 5 and HWY 41.
Fishing time starts 1/2 hour before sunrise. You want to be out on the ice ready to go 1 hour prior. Sunrise is 8:18am. Its early, but the hot action usually starts right around sunrise. Most of the fish are Rainbow's, and some Brown Trout.
You do not need a license for your portable shelter anymore.
read here..Regarding your license, you'll need a fishing license, as well as a MN trout stamp. Make sure you pick them up because the DNR WILL be out checking licenses.
Regarding bait, you can only use wax worms. No minnows, or leeches!!!! You will be fined if you bring them.
