About These Calculators

Our fish weight calculator uses the same length-girth formulas used by state fish and wildlife agencies and fisheries biologists across North America. The formula accounts for each species' unique body shape — elongated pike use a different divisor than deep-bodied bluegill. The standard formula is: Weight (lbs) = Length × Girth² ÷ Divisor, where measurements are in inches.

The game animal weight calculator uses conversion factors derived from wildlife management research. For white-tailed deer, field dressed weight is approximately 78% of live weight, and boneless meat yield is approximately 43% of live weight — meaning a 150-lb deer yields around 65 lbs of boneless meat. Elk, moose, and bear follow similar conversion ratios.
